Due to college work I’ve been unable to update the blog as much as I’d like and although I have been updating the R5 release dates, I haven’t been posting news posts recently. Once this main work is done I should have some more time to write. I do plan on doing some video review of apps just to try something new and maybe written reviews too.
I now have an iPhone 4 so I do plan, once the greenpois0n jailbreak is released to release some retina display ready winterboard themes. I’m also tempted to start my own repo and include themes, wallpapers, ringtones etc.
I’ll try to keep you all updated as much as possible and if you have any ideas or suggestions please leave a comment or get in touch via twitter.
Apple are never open about the actual real specs of the iPhone. We know the iPhone 4 uses a A4 chip but we don’t know the clock speed but for Apple to keep up with todays competition it’s been reported that the new iPhone will have 512MB of RAM instead of the 256MB that the iPhone 3GS has. This will give a lot more head room for games, multitasking and other memory hungry apps.
This will also hopefully mean that for the jailbreak community that with the extra CPU speed and double the RAM that WinterBoard and other modifications will run a lot smoother and you can have a lot more complex themes.
The newly released 0.9.2958 versions of WinterBoard and MobileSubstrate, which have been upgraded to supportARM7/Thumb2, should now work on the iPhone 3GS.
Saurik, the developer, has said to upgrade even if you don’t have a 3GS as it includes bug fixes.
Geohot has released the second version of the iPhone 3GS jailbreak, this release includes:
- Vista, Windows 7, International and 64-bit support.
- Less flakiness in the payload.
- Cydia tar cleaned up.
- Improved logging with slightly more useful errors.
- New kernel patches, codesign errors gone. Props posixninja.
- Added vm_map +x, passed vm_check.
- No winterboard yet.
- Still in beta, so use caution.
